The sun rose, as it had for a millennium before and would for another, it would set in the sky that night as it had millions of times before. But today, today was different, for today the sun rose for the first time over Avalonia.

The storm had been ferocious, the rain had fallen like a waterfall and the earthquake had rocked the planet to its very core. Tectonic plates skated over one another other, freely gliding and altering the terrain, and from below the seas came a rumbling as if the Gods themselves were awakening from a deep slumber. Pushing up from the oceans floor, parting the seas themselves it rose, pushing higher and higher until the first peaks surfaced, followed by cliffs, rock faces and then land.

Xavalonia had risen, and now it's bare land and naked rock formations glistening in the sunshine of the new dawn. This ancient land that had been part of the world before the end of the third age of man had risen again, ancient ruins still stood, but no life existed.

 

For a thousand years it lay undiscovered, flora and fauna had made Avalonia its home. A paradise undisturbed by man, unequalled in beauty and diversity of species, but this was about to change, for on this day a ship entered one of the bays, it cast down its heavy anchors, and a new Kingdom was born.
